Whether for a leisurely ride through picturesque streets or a more adventurous exploration of the island's remote areas, cycling on Nantucket is fun for all ages and experience levels.

Extensive and Well-Maintained Bike Paths

Nantucket has over 35 miles of dedicated bike paths that are separate from the main roads, providing safe and enjoyable routes for cyclists. These paved paths connect many of the island’s key destinations, such as beaches, neighborhoods, and conservation areas, making it easy to explore the island by bike. Couple that with the island’s flat terrain and scenic views and you have the perfect combination for cyclists wanting to spend the day on the road.

Polpis Road Path: An 8-mile scenic ride that leads through some of Nantucket’s most picturesque landscapes, including rolling moors, ponds, and conservation land. This path ends near Wauwinet, a quieter part of the island known for its beauty.

Madaket Road Path: A 6-mile ride that takes cyclists to the west end of the island, leading to Madaket Beach, known for its sunsets. This route is perfect for those looking to escape the busier parts of the island.

Cliff Road Path: For cyclists who want a shorter ride, this 1.2-mile path leads to Dionis Beach, offering ocean views and a more relaxed pace.

Many bike paths lead directly to beaches, allowing cyclists to ride to Surfside, Cisco, Dionis, Madaket, and more. Combining a bike ride with a beach day is a perfect way to enjoy the island.
